A GREEN TOMORROW 2008 is a video conservation contest sponsored by UC Riverside California Museum of Photography, @ ARTSblock, 3800 block of Main Street, Riverside, CA 92501. "A Green Tomorrow" is supported in part by Riverside Public Utilities who want their customers to know the importance of sustainable living practices and conserving energy and water. All inquiries should be directed to UCR/CMP Education Department, digitalstudioinfo@gmail.com

Eligibility
The Contest is open to Riverside residents who are 15 - 25 years of age or students attending a City of Riverside school. Full-time employees of UCR are not eligible to participate. Participants agree to abide by the terms of the Official rules and by the decisions of the Sponsors, which are final and binding on all matters pertaining to the Contest.

Contest Procedure
A GREEN TOMORROW 2008 is a chance for youth, as concerned citizens of Riverside, to share the ways in which we can all save energy, water, and reduce our carbon footprint on the planet. Videos can discuss a variety of moments in everyday life, including transportation, home and garden work, recreation, etc. and the actions that can be taken to reduce energy and or water use.

How to enter
There is no cost to participate. Contestants should look through the A GREEN TOMORROW website for ideas and resources to complete their project. After you get an idea, share it with a teacher or parent for feedback. Use a video camera or still photo camera to create a short 30sec. piece that communicates an inspiring message about why we should conserve energy. Add voiceover narration, photos, video, music beats, and titles where appropriate. Render your final video max 640 x 480 in either .mov, .avi., .wmv, or mp4 formats. These formats can be uploaded to us at www.digitalstudio.ucr.edu.

Videos should NOT exceed 10MB in size. When submitting your final video, make sure to include your name, school, home address and a description of what your video is about. If you don't have Internet, videos on CD can be dropped off to UCR/CMP at 3824 Main Street and University, downtown Riverside.  Videos will be accepted up until 5:00pm PST on April 30th, 2008.  Up to three videos may be submitted by each contestant.

PSA Workshop
There will be two PSA (public service announcement) workshops at the UCR California Museum of Photography in downtown Riverside to assist participants in creating a winning entry for the “A GREEN TOMORROW” contest. The dates of the workshops are Saturday, April 19th and April 26th from 12noon – 4:00pm.

There will be an overview of conservation efforts in Riverside and time hands-on computer time to produce a video project. Please RSVP as there is limited space. There will only be 25 participants allowed for each session. To attend email, digitalstudioinfo@ucr.edu, or call (951) 827-4796.

What are we looking for?
Winning entries will be inspiring — they will make us want to change our previous point of view or get up and do something about the problem.

Winning entries will be compelling — they will be good stories with a beginning, middle and an ending.

Winning entries will be practical — there will be answers or tools that we can take advantage of to solve the problem.
